5 Small Positive Changes To Improve Your Life Right Now
As Heard on The Heal with Sushil Podcast
One of my favorite aspects of hosting Heal with Sushil is the question that I ask at the end of each episode.
What is one small positive change that we can bring to our lives today?
After 9 episodes, here are my favorite ones which have definitely improved my life over the last two months.
1. Ask quality questions from a place of curiosity
In my interview with multi-potentialite and micro coach Miche Priest, we did a session where she shared her coaching method UnstuckIn15. Miche shared that the best way to get past difficult phases in our lives was to ask quality questions in an open-minded way. In Miche’s words
“And I think a lot of times, when you're stuck or feeling any kind of tension or angsty or you're in a dialogue with somebody and there's tension or angst, I think, it's not just asking questions, but asking high quality questions from a place of curiosity that help you overcome that.” - Miche Priest
2. Connect with Your Heart and How You Truly Feel
When I asked break-up coach Karla Mejia this question, she said that it is very important to connect with our hearts during the day.
A lot of us are going through life on auto-pilot and don’t take time to reconnect with ourselves.
She suggested that a few times a day we could place our hands over our hearts and really tune in to what it is saying right now. Sometimes we tend to ignore what we feel and suppress our emotions. This practice gives you permission to acknowledge your current state and support yourself however you need to in the present moment.
“Maybe you need a drink of water. Maybe you need a bathroom break. Maybe you need to stretch. What is it that your body needs? What is it that your soul needs for you to feel happy in this moment? And really just starting off with those little micro moments of awareness and pouring love into yourself, I think is going to make a big shift.” - Breakup coach Karla
3. The 6-points of Softening
Scott Schwenk, a meditation teacher with over two decades of experience shared his wisdom in episode 5. This was his small change for being present and experiencing deep relaxation at any point during the day.
4. Begin to Look at the Patterns in Your Life
What does a lifelong lucid dreamer and author have to say? Robert Waggoner shared his insights on examining repetitive patterns in our dreams, nightmares, and waking reality.
“All of us have recurring dreams on occasion, but what's your recurring life dream? What's it trying to tell you? What is the new creative response that you can give to that recurring dream or that recurring life dream that will satisfy it? That will move you to a new level.
Don't give it the same old response, the same old behavior, the same old beliefs. What's a new creative response. And then see what happens” - Robert Waggoner
5. Your Intuition Is Your Oracle
In this week’s episode, Podcaster and Entrepreneur Espree Devora asked us to trust our intuition above all else.
“There's just so much BS out there and you have to learn to trust yourself. At the end of the day, I've restructured what success means to me. before success used to mean. Having my company go really big, be as big as Google or have an IPO and being on the cover of all the big magazines, because I wanted all the business respect and having like stacks of cash, like monopoly money.
Now, what success means to me is it means that I feel inner ease inside my body and in private more often than not. If I don't feel joy and inner ease when no one's looking, I am not doing life.” - Espree Devora
